Goals for next class...
Refine lighting for Shot 3 (make shadows more vertical / sculpt lighting)
Refine atmosphere for Shot 3 (lower to the ground / more fog-like)
Create mask for color correction of smoke / refine smoke in Maya / refine smoke composite
Disintegrate car in Nuke
Render updated FX for Shot 2 and adjust smoke color/density in Maya to hand off to Deanna for composite
My first task for today's class was updating the animation for Shot 3 to make it less bumpy on the cobblestone. Here is what the animation looks like now.
I then sent this iteration off to Sanat to use for his FX.
My next task was then updating the atmosphere so it was lower to the ground. I did this iteration by just putting ramp on my atmosphere. It doesn't look too great cause now it's just concentrated at the front of the frame so I'm going to try a different method in Maya so it looks more like it's all along the street. Hopefully I will be able to get some movement in it as well so it comes across as fog.

Lastly, I began testing how I was going to disintegrate the car in Nuke now that we abandoned doing it in Houdini. This is just my very first test of keying the mix in the merge of the beauty layer over the background to fade out the car. It's nothing flashy but it works while I work through some cooler ways to go about it.
